So yesterday while I was at work, setting up 100 coffee cups in a tower, I realized that I am turning 25 in 25 days (as of yesterday). It was a fun thought, and a little overwhelming at the same time.
When I was younger, what did I picture 25 to look like? Definitely a heck of a lot more "settled" than what I am now. I was talking with a friend a couple nights ago, and we were saying how when we were teenagers, we looked ahead, and had these "perfect numbers" in our heads. Married at about 22, 23, start having kids 24, 25, buy a house 27,28. What were we thinking?
I think we weren't thinking.
ReplyDeleteOr you were thinking that life can be 'organized'?? As a friend of mine likes to say, "Life is something that happens while you're making other plans".
ReplyDeleteAah Kathleen...how naive we all were! But, life is what you make of it...and if you had a house and kids, would you be thinking of going back to Costa Rica?!! Enjoy your life, cuz it's the only one you've got:)
ReplyDeletekids are so stupid.
ReplyDeletei'm with dan. life is what happens while kids are stupid.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, Kathleen...there are a lot of "ideals" and expectations placed on us when we're young. I place ideals in quotation marks because I'm not too sure that they are ideal. Everyone's life is going to turn out differently so I think it's good to just be where you are, y'know? Sorry - I meant for it to come across as deep as it does in my head but I'm tired and headachey so that's just not happening tonight!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and visit my bloggyland if you get the chance.
I find it interesting that only one married person has commented so far...and that was my mother :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you all realize that I am very content with my life right now...while I appreciate all the encouragement, I want to make sure you know that I'm happy...and just thinking about life :)
